We're absolutely delighted to have been invited to contribute to the exciting new development plans for Annan, the History Town's new Everholm park area, which will be home to the stunning Spirit of the Anna sculpture!
Jaye will be at Everholm Park in Annan at the Community Landscape Planning Day this coming Monday 14th June from 11am - 3.30pm where she'll be demonstrating easy herbal medicine making activities with local and wild foraged plants. The planning day will bring together the key themes that have emerged from the recent community participatory appraisals, giving people the chance to play with the space in a fun and engaging way. There will also be opportunities to explore different plants, herbs, trees and bushes and to learn how they could be used in the landscape, especially edible varieties.
On the day, Jaye will be guiding folk in medicinal and culinary herbal crafting activities with local plants and herbs, offering participants the chance to get creative with some of the native plant species that will be gown at Everholm in the landscaped garden section of the renovated park. We will have photographs of different bushes, trees, and plants to help people visualise the options, and actual herbs and plants to show what could thrive on-site.
Phil Dowling from DG Woodlands will lead an interactive session where participants will explore layout ideas using ropes and natural materials to map out the space. Tom Hughes from DG Museums will support this by helping attendees create small-scale models of their ideas, which they can take away.
By the end of the day, we aim to have a draft, co-designed landscape plan that brings together everyone’s input — this will be used to help shape the final hard landscaping plans. There’s plenty of scope for everyone to contribute throughout the day, especially around edible planting ideas and how they can be meaningfully integrated into the space..
Exciting times for the townsfolk of Annan - be great if you can join us to help create this new vision!
